Abstract

This review paper explores the evolving field of ecocriticism and its application in analyzing contemporary fiction. By examining literary texts through an ecological lens, the study investigates how modern narratives reflect, critique, and reimagine the relationship between humans and the natural world. It highlights the ways in which contemporary authors incorporate themes of environmental degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, and ecological justice into their storytelling. The paper synthesizes key theoretical frameworks and critical approaches in ecocriticism, tracing its development from early nature writing to present-day climate fiction (“cli-fi”). It also evaluates how narrative form, genre, and character development serve to amplify environmental concerns and foster ecological awareness among readers. Ultimately, the review underscores the significance of ecocritical literature in shaping cultural attitudes toward the environment and promoting sustainability in the Anthropocene era.
