Abstract
Unemployment among young people has emerged as one of the most significant socio-economic challenges confronting the Indian economy. India possesses one of the largest youth populations in the world, providing an important demographic advantage for economic growth and development. However, the ability to convert this demographic potential into productive employment remains a major policy concern. Despite improvements in educational attainment, economic expansion and the development of new industries, a considerable section of India’s youth continues to experience unemployment, underemployment, skill mismatches, informal employment and job insecurity.
