Abstract

Definition of Panchayats is given in the beginning gram Panchayats are first and important base in three-layer Panchayati Raj System. They fulfill idea of Ramrajya which was dream of Mahatma Gandhi. Working of women members elected in Gram Panchayat is narrated in brief. Then various effects of Panchayati Raj are discussed. They include dissemination of democratic values, origin of new leadership, Political avarices among leadership, Political avarices among villages, increase in partnership of people in development activities, grouse, customs, decrease in social distance etc.
