Abstract
The term functional is significant as it pertains to community utility and the ability of individuals to work independently. Teaching children with intellectual disabilities is a challenging task that requires the expertise of special educators. Co-curricular activities are defined as activities that enrich and enhance the curriculum. These activities are organised in a way that facilitates learning, such as teaching the writing of numbers through activities like art and craft, sand writing, and colouring. Such methods help children with special needs learn tasks more effectively and enjoyably. The present study focuses on teaching children with intellectual disabilities to write numerals 1 to 10 using co-curricular activities such as writing on sand and colouring numbers with crayons. The results of the study indicate that children with intellectual disabilities showed significant interest in learning to write numbers 1 to 10 through these activities. The findings suggest a definite positive impact of co-curricular activities on teaching children with intellectual disabilities.
