Abstract
The evolution of the English language in the digital era marks a transformative phase characterized by rapid technological advancements and changing communication practices. With the rise of the internet, social media, and instant messaging platforms, English has undergone significant lexical, syntactic, and semantic shifts. New vocabularies have emerged, old meanings have been repurposed, and abbreviations, emojis, and internet slang have become integral to everyday discourse. The digital age has also contributed to the global spread of English, leading to increased hybridization with local languages and the development of regional Englishes. This evolution raises questions about language purity, standardization, and linguistic identity, while also offering opportunities for linguistic creativity and inclusivity. This study explores the dynamic nature of English in the digital realm, analyzing the sociolinguistic, cultural, and technological factors that continue to reshape it.
