Abstract
This research investigates how counselling interventions influence emotional maturity among adolescents. Emotional maturity, crucial for social and personal growth, often faces challenges during adolescence. Counselling is proposed as a support mechanism for navigating these challenges. Using a quantitative approach, pre- and post-intervention assessments measure emotional maturity changes in adolescents. A pretest-posttest research design is used. The sample consist of 30 adolescents from Udaipur and from diverse backgrounds. The emotional maturity scale by Singh and Bhargava was used. The Academic Stress Scale was administered before and after seven one-hour counselling sessions, totalling seven hours of intervention. These daily sessions were conducted over seven consecutive days. Counselling sessions, focusing on emotional awareness, regulation, and interpersonal skills, are conducted by trained counsellors. The paired-sample t-test, evaluates counselling’s impact and found significant (p<0.01). The study aims to provide empirical evidence supporting counselling’s effectiveness in enhancing emotional maturity among adolescents, with implications for youth development programs and mental health promotion.
