Abstract

Mohan Rakesh is one of the few writers of Hindi literature who is considered the hero of the “new story movement” and most people in the literary world call him the great hero of that era. He also wrote the first modern drama in Hindi as “Ashadh ka Ek Din”. Mohan Rakesh is a talented writer who turned modern drama literature towards a new direction. The real name of famous Hindi playwright and essayist Mohan Rakesh was Madanmohan Guglani. Mohan Rakesh was born on 8 January 1925 AD in Amritsar, Punjab. His father Karamchand Guglani, despite being an advocate, was a lover of literature and music, which had an impact on the life of Mohan Rakesh.
