Abstract

Orphanage is a complex social issue in India. These institutions provide shelter to children who have lost their parents or who cannot be raised by their parents. However, many challenges exist in these ashrams. … .1 Many orphanages do not have adequate resources. This includes food, clothing, education, health care, and housing. In some ashrams, children’s rights are violated. This includes physical and mental abuse, neglect, and denial of educational opportunities. It is a big challenge to integrate orphanage children into mainstream society. They often face social stigma and have difficulty in obtaining employment opportunities. Many shelters do not have enough trained staff to care for the children. The adoption process in India is quite complex and involves many legal and bureaucratic hurdles. Current status and efforts Talking about the situation, the government has taken many initiatives to improve orphanages. This includes nutrition schemes, providing education opportunities and simplifying the adoption process. …2 Many NGOs are working for orphan children. They provide help in areas like education, health and skill development. There are several campaigns being run to spread awareness about orphanage issues. Many states have formulated new policies for the operation of orphanages. These policies aim to protect the rights of children and ensure their well-being. Many more steps are needed to improve orphanages. These include: Orphanages should be inspected regularly to ensure that children’s rights are not violated. Children should be provided with healthy food and regular health checkups. Quality education should be provided to the children so that they can become self-reliant. The adoption process should be made more transparent and efficient. Awareness campaigns should be conducted to develop a positive attitude in the society towards orphan children.
