Abstract
Professional development is a continuous process by which develop skills in specific areas or progress in their career through different training programmes or workshops. Professional development is important for continuous career growth opportunities like promotions, shifting to reputed institutions. It can support in acquiring new skills and improving present status. The process of education is probably never-ending process, and it continues even after one starts his job or enters his profession. To achieve excellent learning outcomes for their pupils and ensure success, it is the duty of every teacher and school administrator to pursue professional development. For teachers and staff, ongoing professional development is essential in the dynamic world of higher education. Investing in continuous and effective professional development is crucial because higher education institutions in 21st century are trying to uphold high standards, fulfil accreditation requirements, enhance student outcomes and employability, encourage innovation, stay competitive. The significance of current study is that it analyses the recommendations of NEP 2020 regarding the incentives to be given to teachers as freedom of innovative teaching, rewards and promotions. The paper will also highlight how universities will help college faculties to enhance successfully in their career.
