Abstract
It’s an accepted fact that our planet will be a much happier place to live in, in the years to come. That would be the essence of the world in the years to come, however, is anybody’s guess. Will future generations see and call various flora and fauna? How clean is the air then? — Some questions need to be addressed. Most parts of the world still purchase water for their everyday needs. Multiple explanations. Suffice it to say that, what assurance can the various administration make, the water would be clean and pollution-free in the future. It’s worth noting that land was free for man to farm and work according to his need some hundred years ago, so was water and air. Yet hollow air space—not to mention land and water—is sold today. I wouldn’t be surprised if air to breathe could also bear a price tag in certain ways or the other. This rapid degradation of environmental quality is urgently needed. The world community and society should adopt some practical environment-sustaining steps. And the term ‘Sustainable Development’ was coined in the 1987 report of the World Commission on Environment and Sustainability (Brundtland Committee). Throughout its report, the Brundtland Commission described ‘Sustainable Development’ as ‘development that meets the need for the present generation without sacrificing the need for future generations to meet their own needs.’
